Front jacket presents composer and composition names in large font, preceded by a subtitle: "New Electronic Music From Leaders Of The Avant-Garde" Jacket spine states only composers and titles in a different order - "Babbitt: Ensembles For Synthesizer; Cage: Variations II; Pousseur: Trois Visages De Liège The three movements of the Pousseur are named but the subtracks of B2 flow together on the LP. "BMI" named as Performing Rights Society for tracks A and B1. None is stated for track B2. Jacket front and back give no indication of Canadian origin, and appear almost identical to the earliest US release in evidence: [r687528]. Unlike the US release, two sections of the back jacket bottom margin company identifiers have been blanked out on THIS Canadian release, which states: Cover art: Richard Mantel / Manufactured by Columbia Records / . . . [blank] . . . (R) "Columbia" [logo] "Masterworks," Marcas Reg. . . . [blank] The redacted data as seen on the US release is: "CBS Inc. . . . [address] . . . N.Y. /" . . . and . . . "Printed in U.S.A." "Printed in U.S.A." is on the spine of this release. The LP Labels are similar to the 1967 US release, but of one generation earlier: Grey "Two-eye" Labels with large-diameter central circle: with BLACK text for the primary data and the "360 Sound STEREO 360 Sound" with arrows, and WHITE text for COLUMBIA Masterworks, logos and fine print on bottom edge, which ends, "Printed in Can." The differences are that the US release prints the "360 Sound STEREO 360 Stereo" with arrows in WHITE, not BLACK, and the US release states "Printed in U.S.A." rather than the "Printed in Can." present on this release. For US releases the black arrow predates the white arrow variants of the "Grey 2-Eye" label design. See last section of : https://londonjazzcollector.wordpress.com/record-labels-guide/columbia-records/columbia-us-labels/ The matrix codes indicate this is a first release: Side A: "-1A" indicates the first lacquer cutting ("A") of the first tape/mix ("1") Side B: "-1D" indicates the fourth lacquer cutting ("D") of the first tape/mix ("1") This release is undoubtedly a first release. It does not state "1967" but is uniform with (or predated) the other releases that claim 1967 as their release date.
