A superb whirl of blithe, romantic, dramatic, folk and percussive themes on an overall symphonic tapestry, showing the great talent of the innovative composer Egisto Macchi and the masterly cleverness of the conductor Bruno Nicolai. This score does not feature at all the usual pretty but insipid atmospheric tunes. A documentary depicting half in jest the Italian society in the early 60's, directed by Pasquale Prunas.
