"The world of music is a kaleidescope of mood, colour and movement, from the latest 'pop' tune to a vibrant Vivaldi concerto. Certain melodies have retained their power and charm to attract the aural senses of succeeding generations. It is from among these melodies that Richard Bonsall has chosen his repertoire for this recording, songs that appeal as much in the 1970's as they would have done in the 1770's.
Side One encompasses the magical world of folk music, gathering up "Mairi's Wedding" and "Bonnie Mary" from Scotland, "La Golondrina" from Spain among many others. The musical scale ascends on Side Two with Mozart's aria "Voi Che Sapete" as opening parley, followed by five works by 18th-20th century composers, including a graceful and beautifully sung Brahms "Lullaby". Truly a record for all ages and all tastes.
