Ives's 'Three Places' and 'Symphony No. 3' were recorded on May 5, 1957, on 3-track half-inch tape using one 201 and two M56 Telefunken microphones. Schuman's 'New England Triptych' was recorded on May 5, 1963; Mennin's 'Symphony No. 5', on May 7, 1962. All sessions took place in the Eastman Theatre in Rochester, N.Y.
