"This 90 minute digitally mastered recording features music and songs from Moroccan Gnawi trance ceremonies performed by the extraordinary young vocalist and dancer Hassan Hakmoun. The first side presents Mr. Hakmoun as a solo vocalist, accompanying himself on the sintir (skin-faced lute). The second side is a multi-track recording with Mr. Hakmoun singing both solo and chorus and accompanying himself on sintir, qaraqeb (metal castanets), and hand clapping." The concerts were recorded live in New York City during 1987 on Sony Beta PCM digital format and remastered to 1/4 inch analog format for editing.
