Concertino II for Orchestra was commissioned by The Louisville Orchestra and written during the summer of 1956. First public performance: November 28, 1956.
The sketches for the Second Symphony were written almost entirely in Paris between August, 1954 and March, 1955. Sketches and orchestration of the first movement were completed in St. Petersburg, Florida in October of 1955; orchestration of the remaining three movements was finished on March 4, 1956 in Nyack, New York. The Symphony was commissioned in 1953 by The Louisville Orchestra and is dedicated to the composer's wife, Mary. First public performance: April 7, 1956.
This First Edition Records reissue was released no earlier than 1975.
