"The Greeks are a musical people and it is no surprise to see them with guitars, bouzoukis and flutes, playing and serenading in the colorful taverns of Plaka, the joyful "Latin quarter of Greece", below the Acropolis in Athens, or on the island seashores singing as they sail in the tiny boats through the aquamarine waters of the Aegean.
This collection of songs remains totally Greek even though the music presented here is not purely ethnic. The Golden Music of Greece is an international musical idea.
The orchestration has balanced the musical aspects by utilizing the traditions and extending the bouzouki as a solo instrument to create a mixture of joyous feeling with pathos."
