Divine Replica

Is there redemption for the forgotten? Perhaps there is? Perhaps it is a murky transcendence? The first half of these songs were created in a place where no human, nor animal should dwell, but there I was. It was a basement, referred to as "Old Source”. Without going into much detail, it mostly resembled the nightmares you would have about Freddy Kruger and the warehouse in which he was chasing you. This basement leaked, had lead pipes, and generations of electrical cabling dating back to the 1920's. It just wasn't supposed to be a studio, or a jam room. But it's what I had, and I really put it to use. The first five tracks were all recorded in Old Source, nearly three to four years ago. The “B” side was recorded at what we now call, "Source East" which is in the new location of the Electric Kitsch. At the time I was extremely enthusiastic about experimenting with contact microphones. The main focus of each track is the contact microphone. The device itself is basically a clip-on piezo that you can attach to many things. The more pleasant of a reverberation sound, the better, for me at least! At times I would also use a Shure vocal microphone in tandem with the contact mic. Other than that, no pedals, effects, tapes delays, etc... were used in these tracks. This recording is my homage to leaving those dark, murky places, where you no longer need to dwell, and can find something new yet again. There is great adventure inside the places where you are most at peace. Seek them out, they are waiting to be redeemed. Mitch has made such fine additions on bass, that they became a cohesive view of the basement, and together, we found a way out. He's finalized these to our specifications, and I do love them dearly.
