The numbers and dots on the rim indicate master and mold information. The dots represent which master was used (e.g. ".." indicates the second master take), and the number indicates the mold used for that cylinder (incrementing from 1). According to the Thomas Edison National Historical Park, each mold could typically be used to make between 275 and 625 cylinders before it wore out.
