The Tape Project

The Tape Project was recorded between 2010 and 2012. The concept of this was to make songs that were entirely free of the computer (from making sounds all the way to the final mix). This started a new way of working for me that captured a bit more freedom and allowed me to focus on arrangement more with my ears than my eyes. I purchased a small eurorack modular synthesizer with analog step sequencer in it. This system worked well with my TR-808 and other older synths, then every synths was routed to my mixing console and then finally recorded to cassette tape. I picked tape for the added sound of the tape compression and the added extra noise seemed to gel nicely with the compositions.
